United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) was established in 1964, in the absence of an intergovernmental body that tackles the challenges of developing countries. UNCTAD provides technical assistance to developing member states in their challenge to integrate global trade, and works in cooperation with other bodies such as, but not limited to, International Trade Center, World Trade Organization, the International Chamber of Commerce , Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD), the World Bank, the International Labor Organization. Moreover, UNCTAD contributes significantly to the progress of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
UNCTAD has five level of meetings. The UNCTAD Conference, which is held every four years, will be simulated in Y-MUN 2016.
