International Court of Justice

Since most people refer to International Court of Justice (ICJ) as the“World Court”, it is non-doubted that this court is enormously significant. Therefore, as the only court simulation of Y-MUN Training and Development Conference 2018, we are more than happy to welcome you to ICJ. The reason behind this ascription is the fact that ICJ is the principal judicial organ of the United Nations whereas all 193 UN member countries are automatically parties to the court’s statute. Moreover, non-UN members may also become parties to the court’s statute by using the procedure stated in Article 93 of the UN Charter. ICJ has jurisdiction over three types of cases: contentious issues, incidental jurisdiction, and advisory opinions. One more reason proving ICJ’s significance is obviously the binding nature of the decisions given by it. The reasons stated above, there is no doubt that this simulation will be an unmissable opportunity for participants who want to improve their skills as advocates and judges while amusing themselves with the joy of participating to a MUN conference.
