About Committee

International Atomic Energy Agency, shortly IAEA, is an intergovernmental organization that was created in 1957 with the aim of creating an environment of cooperation in the field of usage of nuclear means. The IAEA, or widely known as Atoms for Peace, with its member states, works to promote a safer, more secure and more peaceful usage of nuclear technology.


The agency works on various fields, namely Nuclear Technology and its applications, within which topics such as energy, health, environment, water, food, industry or nuclear science. Secondly, the agency further takes nuclear safety and security as an area of concern. Another area of interest of the agency is safeguards and verification, in which the legal framework, implementation and basics of IAEA safeguards are discussed.
