Special Political and Decolonization Committee

The Special Political and Decolonization Committee (SPECPOL), also known as the Fourth Special Political and Decolonization Committee, is the Fourth Committee of the United Nations General Assembly established to address special political matters with means of medical, monetary and political aid. In the first few years of its establishment, it was called The Special Political Committee. In 1978 and 1993 it went through some fundamental changes and ended up as the Special Political and Decolonization Committee we know today. Throughout its existence, SPECPOL has conducted a significant amount of special political missions which helped countless people about their politically hard situation. SPECPOL is currently still operating on multiple special political missions and helping people live in a much more stabilized environment.

In this annual session of Yeditepe Model United Nations Training and Development Conference, you will be reviewing some of the special political missions that have been and is being conducted by SPECPOL. This task will be very challenging as each and every one of them has delicate details that can be crucial to the political environment.
