It is such an exquisite honour for me to welcome you all as the Secretary-General of Y-MUN Training and Development Conference 2019.
Aroused by the passion for rewriting history, influencing the future and bringing solutions to today’s problems of security, justice, human rights, and development, the Y-MUN Training and Development Conference 2019 will simulate fifteen committees, composed of crisis cabinets, special bodies, and intergovernmental organizations. This year, we have challenged ourselves to excel the academic and organizational quality.
We are delighted to present you the committees of Y-MUN 2019. GA 1: DISEC will tackle with establishing a Nuclear-Weapon-Free Zone in the Middle East. GA 4: SPECPOL delegates will discuss a review of the past of special political missions. United Nations Office of Outer Space Affairs will decide on Colonization and Privatization of Space. ECOSOC, In the “International Year of Indigenous Languages” will address advancing Indigenous Peoples’ Collective Rights to Lands, Territories, Resources. High-Level Political Forum on Sustainable Development shows us how to treat and recognize the challenges of sustainable development. Organization of American States will discuss the situation of Venezuela. Shanghai Cooperation Organization will deal Issue in International Trade & Regional Security of Internet, Information, Logistic, and Transportation. African Union will focus on developing ways to accelerate the achievement process of the Fourth Aspiration of the Agenda 2063: A Peaceful and Secure Africa. North Atlantic Council will let you attend a weekly meeting of NAC with a wide range of topics on marine safety, the Balkans, energy, and climate. Futuristic Security Council will challenge with conflicts between the nations, humanitarian crises, ethnic cleansings, and a violent ethnic-based conflict erupts on establishing peace and security in the Congo region. Cabinet of Charles de Gaulle will follow the establishment of a new republic and then the French integration process into a polarized world. Cabinet of Salvador Allende will cope with the effort of an elected Socialist leader to remain in government. 1921 Persian Coup d’Etat will rewind to 1921 and let you rewrite the challenge of Qajars and Pahlavis. Women’s War will give you a chance to participate in the women-initiated movement in British Nigeria to redress social, political and economic grievances. Last, but not least, the participants of the European Court of Human Rights will deal with the problems of minorities in society.
I would like to conclude my letter by expressing my gratitude to the people whom I feel lucky to call my team and particularly, Secretaries-General Ms Aşkın Su Candan and Mr Alperen Doğaner. I also would like to thank the dedicated operations team led by Director-General Mr Umur Kervancıoğlu and his deputies Mr Sergen Kaya and Mr Özcan Yalçın.
